The Hotel Porto Mare, together with the suite Hotel Eden Mar and the timeshare property The Residence, shares an area of more than 20,000sqm. Overlooking the legendary lido area, a few years ago a sub-tropical garden and aqua landscape was erected, right on the cliffs of Madeira. Equally stunning is the view over the dark blue of the sea spread out below this 4 star hotel. The “Vila” in Vila Porto Mare stands for “village” – and this best describes the atmosphere there. Although there are 450 suites, apartments and rooms here, the resort has a personal feel to it. The Hotel Porto Mare has two large outdoor pools (one of which more than 700sqm in size), two indoor pools, a kids pool, a spa area, a squash court and a tennis court.
The rooms at the family hotel
The Hotel Porto Mare on Madeira itself provides around 100 of the rooms at this 4 star resort. These are divided into three categories - standard double rooms, superior double rooms and junior suites. The views from all the rooms are glorious and either take in the sea or the lush garden behind this family hotel. The rooms at the Porto Mare are all very spacious and have been sympathetically decorated. Light wood, warm colors and wonderful facilities create a charming atmosphere.
Impressive culinary choice
The Porto Mare resort has an exceptionally large selection of restaurants and bars. The main restaurant at this 4 star hotel on Madeira is the “Atlântida”, which offers both buffets as well as à la carte. From the terrace of the restaurant there are wonderful sea views. If there’s no room here, don’t worry. At the cooking show you can watch as excellent international dishes are prepared. The two restaurants “Il Basilico” and “Med”, Mediterranean cuisine is served in an exclusive ambiance. Light snacks can be enjoyed in the “Portofino”, on the terrace of this 4 star hotel, in the evening accompanied by live music, or in the “Varanda”, right next to the swimming pool. Last but not least, the “Lido” bar offers delicious evening cocktails under the stars.
